Thursday

This was our last day in Washington DC.

We were going to meet an examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office.  We waited an hour, but he never came. 

We walked into the Inventors museum.  There were six portraits on the wall.  The man at the desk said he would start it.  We walked in and the doors closed.  The portraits began to talk.  They were really videos of the inventors.  The video portraits were talking to each other.  We were surprised!  It was funny to hear them talk.

Because the examiner never came, we went to the airport early.  We arrived at the airport at 12:00, and our plane did not leave until 5:00.  We made some friends, sat around and talked, texted, and watched airplanes. 

Wednesday

Wednesday we went to see some of the memorials.  It was raining hard again, but we forgot to bring our umbrellas.

We could not go close. Talee and Kayden went close, but the police stopped them and told them they could not go close because it could still have cracks in it from a recent earthquake. (But there was a whole bunch of school teenagers that were up close to it!)

It was raining pretty hard and we hid behind the person listening to the radio to stay out of the rain for a bit.

We went to the National Parks Headquarters. There was a statute of Smokey the Bear.

Tuesday

Tuesday Dad had to work until 1:00.  Kayden and Talee played with Dad's cell phone while they waited for Dad to get done working.  Then we went to the National Museum of Natural History.

We also went to the Holocaust Museum. It was really rainy. It was a good thing Mom bought us new umbrellas to bring.

Monday

Monday we went to Mount Vernon.  It was really touching there.  We could feel the spirit. 
The museum was really good.

Sunday

It took us 2 hours to get to church!  We went to the curch next to the Washington DC temple, so we got to go to the visitor center too.


At the visitor's center, it was the last day of the Humanitarian Aid exhibit.  There were some movies that we watched. 


There was a full size doll house, where there was a desk with a computer, kitchen, baby's room and a family room.  We watched Mormon Messages.


The temple was big, white and beautiful.  We got to go up and touch it.

Saturday

After the standard continental breakfast at Days Inn, the bus ride to the Pentagon and the metro ride to the mall, we went to:

In the National Archives we saw the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights

Friday in Washington DC

Friday was Dad's last day of the Conference.  We went with him and sat outside in the hall playing Ages of Empires during his class. 

During Dad's lunch break we went to the zoo again. 


Afterwards we ...

The next day we went to Dad's conference at the Woodley Park Marriot.  The esclator up out of the metrostation was really really REALLY long.




During lunch we walked a couple of blocks to the National Zoo


We saw the pandas, they were sleeping

There was a whole pride of lions.  And the baby lions really worked the dad over.


Someone put the cheetahs right next to the zebras.  The cheetahs have worn a path next to the fence.  I'll bet the zebras have heart problems!



The orangutans were awesome.  They came right up to the glass and "chatted".  They also have a "skyway" over the rest of the zoo that they can use to move from building to building.

Air and Space Museum in Washington DC

We spent a whole day at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. We saw the real Apollo 11 reentry capsule.  It looked real and smelled real.

A real moon lander that was a backup for the Apollo missions.

The Voyager, the first airplane to fly around the world nonstop and without refueling.

Our trip to Washington D.C.

Dad had a conference in Washington D.C., so me and Talee decided to come along.  We woke up on Tuesday, loaded everything we had packed into the van and then set out for Salt Lake city where our flight left from.  It was really cool to fly in a plane.  We flew on a Delta 757 nonstop from Salt Lake to National Airport in Washington DC.

We arrived at National Airport in the early afternoon.

And jumped on the metro to the Pentagon.

And at the Pentagon station we caught a bus to head to our motel in Arlington Virginia.

This is Days Inn Pentagon and was our home for 10 days.  We got very farmiliar with the bus ride to the pentagon metrostation because that was how we started and ended each day.

Ogden

After the Union Station Train Museum, we went to Cold Springs Trout Farm to try our hand at fishing.  It was a little easier than we expected to catch fish at a fish farm, but the kids still had fun.

                Bryana and Karalena had a lot of fun playing with the fish after they were in the bucket. 

Even Kimaria liked to touch and play with the fish.  We brought them all home and had fish for dinner.  This was our first time cooking fresh fish.  It was quite an experiment.
